We had always planned to head to Big Bear as part of this trip but a lovely cashier (at Trader Joe’s in Santa Barbara) told us the fireworks in Big Bear were the best around so we knew we had to be there. We booked a last minute cabin for the week and left Santa Barbara just before lunch on the 4th. I’m delighted we did!
We managed to get a lovely sheltered spot by the shore, and at 10pm we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display, made all the more special by the reflections in the water, and the ring of people round the entire lakeside watching.
What an experience! Definitely worth the trip just for that but Big Bear was fantastic too. We’ll give it it’s own post. For now, here’s a few photos from the evening.
